Going on a holiday to ski France’s highest peaks is everything a scenic photo says it is. There’s year-around snow and all the makings of a perfect Christmas card photo. Some of the French ski resorts are up so high that people ski into and out of them because no vehicle will make it. It’s almost guaranteed that each visitor will have fresh powder to play on.
Many people say family is one of the most important things about Christmas. People have parties and celebrations all month long and into the new year, so the holiday is really a season more than just one day. France values the family unit and caters to them generously with world-renowned child care, nursery programs and a ski school for the adventurous little ones.
People usually have time off during the holiday season and that affords a great opportunity to go to France for some real quality time together. Accommodations are the world’s least expensive (as far as ski resorts go) and the scenery just cannot be beat. There aren’t many hotels in the high French peaks, but hundreds of apartments are available, and they’re rented by the day, week or month to everyone who wants to ski France style. This allows for several people to stay in one place without having to purchase separate rooms like they would in a hotel.
Not to mention the price of the lift tickets; they start at under $180 per week in a small resort, and all the way up to double that for larger resorts. That’s cheap in any town! The most expensive resorts are at the giant pass regions.
The best time to book a Christmas trip is a year or more before the vacation. At least 330 days ahead is recommended for catching a good deal.
Take your family to ski France this holiday; there’s something for everyone.
